A Hungry Visitor

The neighborhood moose dropped by after Christmas to say hello. I gave him a carrot, three rolls, and some green onion and sent him on his way.

A Crazy Day

Well, we had a great Christmas, despite Riley being sick the entire day. The poor kid couldn't keep anything down and went to bed at 6:30 last night. He's doing much better today, though. Amelia kept to her normal schedule, so we're hoping she won't catch whatever it was her big brother had. Here are some pictures from the holiday.

Christmas wishes

Today the sun rose at 10:17 am and set at 3:36 pm. But since yesterday was Winter Solstice, we're over the hump! It gets lighter from here on out. Well, until June, of course...

I did a brave thing yesterday and went to Walmart. Yep, I ventured into a store the Saturday before Christmas. It sounds insane, I know, but I emerged unscathed (though it took me a while).

Anyway, we wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!!

Winter wonderland, opposites, and poo

We have snow again - yippee! Riley ate four bowls of it yesterday. Adam asked him what flavor the snow was and after a short moment of deliberation Riley said, "Cold!" But I probably should have paid closer attention to how much he was consuming since he wet the bed this morning. Whoops! My bad. Anyway, it was a really wet snow so all the trees are white and frosty. It's beautiful.
Amelia has revealed a new talent: explosive bowel movements. I won't elaborate except to say that there's a particular blanket we own that has seen better days. Much better days... But I forgave her because we've had several nights this week with seven hours of uninterrupted sleep.
I had my preschool group today and we learned about opposites. The kids caught on pretty fast. It's fun to watch them learn; I'm constantly awed at how huge their learning capacity is. I've been married to Adam for over four years now and I still can't count to ten in Russian. :)

Helping out

Riley just adores his little sister! He wants to hold her and carry her all the time. If I put her down for a nap and she cries a little bit, he tells me that I need to go and help her. In the car this afternoon, Amelia was wailing (she was hungry and we weren't getting home fast enough to suit her) and Riley started making lots of noise too. I asked him to zip it and he said, "but Amelia's crying so I'm singing to her." Needless to say, I let him continue his noise making. :) Anyway, I wanted to try to post a video of them together, so I hope it works.
