A full house

Last Friday night there was a Valentine's Day dance for the adults in our stake. Adam and I didn't go, but we had the Cornelius girls over so their parents could go. Our friend, Carrie, and her son Carl also came over. And we thought, what the heck, the more the merrier! So we invited over the two kids who were staying with our neighbor (he was napping and they were bored). There were eight kids and three adults in our little two bedroom apartment! Everyone except the Cornelius girls was gone by about 9pm, but the girls stayed until about a quarter to 11. By that time, the kids had hit their limit, mucked through it, and became what my pal Mary refers to as "wired tired." It was nuts! I think Riley is still recovering. Anyway, it was a fun time for all.

Naked Chef

When I was in college, some of my roommates and I watched a show called "The Naked Chef," not so much because we were into cooking but because the host was a cute curly-haired British lad named Jamie something-or-other. Yesterday, Riley made a chef's hat (a toque, if you want to get technical) and cupcakes in preschool. Last night he was running around wearing his toque when he disappeared into his room for a while. When he returned, he was devoid of any and all clothing and yelling, "I'm a naked chef!" So thanks to my son, if I ever hear the phrase "the naked chef" again, I probably won't think of Jamie.

Magnificent Millie

I've been having a lot of fun this week taking pictures of our little girl. She's very accommodating and hams it up for me!

Politically perplexed.

A few nights ago I saw a lady on the corner of Main Street with a big blue sign that said Ron Paul for President. I admire her political conviction. I’m not sure I’d be willing to stand out in weather cold enough, as I recently explained to my Mom, to freeze your nose hairs together when you breathe just to show my support. In fact, I can’t even tell you the names of the presidential candidates for 2008. Anybody know of a good website that spotlights all of them and gives basic information?

Phil's prediction

So I was wondering this morning how a fat, dirty rodent in Pennsylvania (no offense, Phil) has the authority to predict that six more weeks of winter are in store. I mean, we're Alaskans! We know better than to think that we'll be breaking out our spring attire by the middle of March. It'll be the end of May, if we're lucky! And if Phil hadn't seen his shadow, does that mean our current temperature of -2 would have soared to 50 by tomorrow? So pardon me if I'm skeptical. Never trust a marmot, I always say...
