Books, books, everywhere

It's my 168th post today! Let's have a giveaway. Nope, no special occasion. I just thought it might be fun. I'm suffering from post-holiday-boredom disorder and I need a little pick-me-up. Plus, I have to wait until July to move into our new house. And ever since I started perusing carpet, vinyl, and Formica colors, my current place of residence looks like the apartment from Hades, and not just because of the hideous orange counter tops. The only thing I can think of to improve it is de-clutter. So who's with me?!

I've amassed a small-ish collection of books that I bought, read once, enjoyed, but will probably never read again. I am very generously giving these books away in the hopes that they will find a good home. Because, like cats and some dogs and most children, books need a good home.

Social Graces
This is a very thought-provoking book about why our society is not quite as polite as we used to be and how we can fix it. If you need any tips about proper behavior, this is the book for you. And if you don't need tips, I'm willing to bet you can name a handful of people who would greatly benefit from this book. (Kristina P., you aren't one of those people.)

Seabiscuit
Way better than the movie.

Animal Farm
Four legs good, two legs bad. What else is there to know?

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
This is an obviously fictional book. One pair of jeans that can magically make four girls love their behinds? No way, no how. It's a fun read, though.

What to Expect When You're Expecting and What to Expect the First Year
These books give advice. Some of it is absurdly obvious, some of it is helpful, and some of it will be the best form of birth control you'll ever encounter.

Now, I was planning on picking just one winner, but maybe the winner won't need all of these books. So if you just want one or two let me know - maybe I'll tweak things a bit once the drawing comes around. And really, it's my blog and my giveaway so I'll do whatever I feel like. And no more arguing or I'll take away TV privileges! (Um, sorry. That just slipped out. I've been using that phrase a lot lately.)

Anyway, leave me a comment to enter yourself into the drawing and come back in a week to see if you've won. Good luck to you!

I am horribly, horribly uncouth, so I just might need that book!

Well, I think it's safe to say I don't need the 'What to Expect When You're Expecting' book...

Ditto on the 'What to Expect When You're Expecting' - I actually have a copy of my own to get rid of... but hey, who doesn't need more books right? (according to hubby, that would be me...)

I'm still living in a world where two legs are good and hating my tushy...

Besides, We're not having a house built, but the contractor came 2 days ago to measure for my bookshelves... so I'm sure I'm only a few months out... you think I'll get my shelves before you move into your house?

Yeah, I have the what to expect books. All of them.

I think I own Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants as well.

But I love to read...would love any of the others!

I never read or saw Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Is it sappy? Sometimes I like sap.

Is the first book a psychology book? My husband might like it...

Orange counter tops? I'm so sorry...
I saw Seabiscuit, but never read the book so that one might be fun to read.

Ooo! I really want to read that "social graces" book. If I ever need the "expecting" book, you can call yourself a witness to a medical miracle!

Social Graces - I could for sure use that - and since you say the book is way better than the movie, I'd love to read Seabiscuit. I have the Sisterhood book series - love them - and I'm waaaaayyy past needing the Expecting books!
Thanks!

I'll take whatever you are willing to give-away, Becky. It is your 168th post, afterall. What's more, you are "amazing in every sense of the word."

HA! Just catching up on the posts I missed this week and laughed when I read that line.

If I need that What to Expect book, we'll also need one titled "Middle-aged women and Heart Attacks". I am trying to purge a few books myself so I will pass on entering. But, it is a great idea!

I am expecting...

to never need THAT book ever again!

So sign me up for Seabiscuit or the Pants. I saw both movies and enjoyed them, so I'd love to get out my old Venn diagrams and compare and contrast the similarities and contradictions between mass media corruption and literary expression.

Or maybe I'll just read them.

Hey Becky, Congrats on the house, I think? We have not heard about this. did you mention it on one of your posts and i missed it. Are you buying or building? Also, if you so desire I will take any book. We are working on building a library for the "kids" and i have already loaned out a couple expecting books so I am sure I could find someone who could beneift from it.

Oh, enter me, man. I have Animal Farm and The ladies who have babies books, but I'd love any of the others (mailed to my mom in Provo, of course).

(I've loved catching up with you!)
