Too many pots in the fire

I like to think that I'm pretty good at multitasking. I can talk on the phone while I dress my kids and write my grocery list somewhere in between; I often read while I eat; my driving-while-singing-and-sipping-a-tasty-drink skills are well honed. But I've found that there are some things that require my full attention.

Behold!

See this meal? It looks tasty, eh? Well, those enchiladas - the ones the recipe book entitles Sour Cream Enchiladas - they don't have sour cream in them. And the rice - the rice that was supposed to get 1/2 tsp. cumin - got spiced up all right. Only I grabbed the jar, saw the cu-, and dumped it in. I probably should have finished reading because the last three letters were -rry. Yeah, those spices don't even look the same.

It was edible, sure, but not the best stuff that's ever come out of my kitchen.

Sigh.

(I swiped a picture from a cooking website because I forgot to take one before I ate the meal. It kind of looked the same. Probably tasted better, though...)

I have found that the presence of children obliterates my ability to multi-task. I could do six things at once as a student, secretary, or teacher, but as a mom... nope. Useless. Dang, that's frustrating.

And this is why I don't cook. I am forever doing things like this. Speaking of cumin, once I was making a cake from scratch and put in cumin instead of cinammon. I tried my best to get it out, but it wasn't a very good cake.

Sour cream enchiladas? Heaven... I don't cook very well, but that seems like a recipe I would love to have. Way to multi-task :)

Oh no! Curry is the devil. I'm sure they were still, uh, yummy.

hmmm... curry enchiladas... I'll reserve judgment, but only because I'm always telling my kids they're not allowed to not like something unless they've tasted it first... but don't hold your breath for a stunning review of your new recipe :)

as for Lara's recipe... I'm pretty sure I can say I don't like that already!

I do love curry, but not with my enchiladas. I would love to say I haven't ever done anything like this, but I hate to lie to you.

Yikes! This could be avoided by never having the Satanic spice that is curry in your home. In case you were wondering.

Our brains as humans can only handle so much at one time. I have made some major food whoops before. Those have been the "I think we need to pick up a pizza night." I mean, if I can't palate it than why force everyone else, right?

I don't even OWN curry.

But cumin is my favoritest favorite spice. Even if it smells like feet.

Hey -- Curried Enchiladas... there's an idea!

I think many of us are chuckling right along with you because so many of us have been there, done that.

I personally love curry... but maybe not in Mexican food. I would love to get the recipe for those enchiladas, but with cumin ;)

I love that "The last three letters" part. Funny. And I made our favorite (and simplest in the entire world) tuna casserole and as we ate it I just really could not figure out why it was so bland. After I finished eating I realized I'd left out the tuna. And when there are 4 ingredients in a meal, every single on counts. Especially the one the dish is named for.

Ha, ha! This is pretty much the only place that I can't multitask. You should how many things I can get done while blogging. But the only thing I can do in the kitchen is cook or very bad things happen.

My husband can throw anything together, without measuring anything, and it always tastes divine. I, on the other hand, need to stay far, FAR, away from the spice cupboard!

That truly is funny. I miss Charlie too! When I watched the recap last week I forgot Clair even disappered. I thought she had died. That's how lost I have become :) I like Hurley too, but Sawyer always has me laughing with the nicknames. Oooo~ Getting excited for tomorrow now!

I have spiced taco meat with cinnamon because cumin and cinnamon look similiar enough, and they both start with a c.

Sigh.
