Payback is... uh... not nice

Two days ago I got back from a week-long trip to Idaho and Utah. It was a great vacation. Riley and I both enjoyed it immensely, though it did confirm my theory that some relationships are better long distance. The problem is, I think that the recovery time is going to be longer than the actual vacation. Why is that? It's like the universe decided we had too much fun and now it wants to punish us. Stinking universe.

You think I jest? Behold the payback:
  1. I have the beginnings of what I am certain will be one doozy of a cold.
  2. I am EXHAUSTED.
  3. Riley keeps running into things and tripping and stubbing his toe, even more so than usual - could this possibly be a symptom of jet lag?? - and has resigned himself to spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair. (What can I say? Sometimes he takes me too literally.)
  4. During my absence, Millie had total and complete power over her dear father and is quite loathe to relinquish it now that I am home. Hence the five time outs in the grocery store today. (And we were only there for seventeen minutes, thanks for asking.)
  5. This week's to-do list is only slightly shorter than The Bible.
But don't feel too bad for me. I've got an impressive stack of girl scout cookies calling my name from the pantry.

Take that, universe.

It's so true! I ALWAYS get a cold when I return from a trip to Utah OR Idaho (can't explain it) and the kids, well, they're kids. I often wonder if it's worth it. Clearly, however, your sense of humor is still waaaayyyy intact and that's what matters. That, and the girl scout cookies.

I find recovering from a trip is almost as bad as packing for one.

Hey, at least you've got the cookies to console you.

Kristina P took my exact comment! I mean, is there anything that Thin Mints don't fix?

Agreed about the long distance relationships, although I still wish I lived closer to the people I love! Hope you get back to normal soon (and that you're wrong about the oncoming cold!). Enjoy some cookies for me.

Girl Scout cookies? I haven't even seen those around here yet!

Recovery from vacation is the most difficult part about the break ending.
