I'm probably going to be sorry that I ever brought this up, but I can't help myself. I have a serious issue with the whole HCG craze that's going around.
My beef: how in the name of all things nutritional is it healthy to lose a pound or two per day? I don't understand. I'm certainly not claiming to be all-knowing, and I absolutely can't say that I understand each person's individual situation. Maybe I would try something this drastic if I were severely dissatisfied with my body, or if I had tried diet after diet after diet to no avail - maybe I really just don't get it. But there's a little part of me that, when someone is standing in front of me praising HCG, wants to shake her until she sees sense.
A pound or two per day.
Per day!?
How does that not send up warning signals? Bodies aren't meant to lose weight that quickly unless you've just pushed out a baby. Or been decapitated.
Alright, I'll get off my soapbox now. And my high horse. And whatever else I need to get off of. And I should probably add that I know several ladies who have tried the HCG diet, are thrilled with the results, and seem very happy. I'm happy for them, too. Enough to ignore the screaming going on in my brain.

Yes-but if you keep watching those ladies AFTER the diet, it's likely that they'll gain a good amount back.
You are preaching to the choir!
"or been decapitated". I never thought of losing weight that way. Brilliant. Way better than the HCG, and you will probably not gain it back.
the majority of the HCG fans I know have to do it every 6 months... because that's about how long it takes them to gain back 20 pounds... I have a hard time believing that their doctors are really okay with the yo-yo dieting...
really, wouldn't just eating the 500 calorie allotment do the work without the weird hormones coursing through my system (which always sent me over the edge when I was experiencing them the natural way)
It is truly a terrible idea. Pregnancy hormones are for pregnancy. The end.
This is the first I've heard of that diet. You American's are weird with your nutrition and dieting fads. Over here they just eat food. That's all. (but then my husband just lost 22 pounds in seven or eight weeks on the Dukan diet. But that's not much more than the recommended amount (isn't it one or two pounds per week?)
I'm sorely tempted to forward this to many a-woman I know.
I have to say I am laughing so hard, you put it into words so well. I'm screaming in my head too...I'm glad I'm not the only one screaming.
I like the...no soda, only eat your serving size and don't go back for seconds diet. Ohh and get up off your butt once in awhile diet.
I started out at my heaviest at 185, I'm down 20 lbs. Since January...but I've roller coastered on my honesty of it all...
Man I wouldn't mind loosing my head though....then I wouldn't be accused of being such a @$#%# :)
Never heard of HCG, but I agree it sounds dangerous. CRAZY Americans!
Most dieters would probably benefit more from simply becoming more active (less driving, more walking) and eating real "whole" food (as opposed to industrially manufactured "food")...?
I realize weight issues are complex, but come on, anything that sounds "too good to be true" probably is!!!
I haven't read the rest of the comments but I'd bet money I'm not the only person that thinks you're right. It's completely insane.
